Burnout Recovery · One-to-one with Adam Palmer · Online
One-to-one work with someone who’s lived it - and recovered. Start with a free call - you’ll leave with a roadmap to heal, whether or not we work together.
Your mind doesn’t want to switch off. You’re always craving rest but never actually resting - as if your body forgot how to fully relax.
Everything takes more energy than it used to:
And somewhere underneath sits a question you don’t say out loud: is this just who I am now?
It isn’t - this is fixable. I’ve lived it, and I see it every week. And there’s nothing wrong with you: it’s not a lack of willpower. Most of the people I speak to have spent their whole lives running on willpower, determination and drive - and that’s part of what got them here. It’s just not the thing that gets you out.
You don’t have to step away from your work or your family to recover, either. I recovered from severe burnout while working the whole way through it. This page explains how - and it starts with a free call that’s designed to be worth your time even if we never speak again.
Burnout isn’t a tiredness problem. If it were, a holiday or a good night’s sleep would have fixed it. And it isn’t really a workload problem either - cutting the workload helps in the short term, but it doesn’t heal it. The real root cause is what’s running underneath the workload: the pressure you carry internally, the need to achieve, the holding-it-together for everyone, the obligations - and if you dig deep, you’ve probably been carrying too much on your shoulders going right back to childhood. Rest can’t reach that. Rest gives your body a pause - it doesn’t teach it to stand down. That’s why you can sleep nine hours and wake up exhausted.
And you can’t think your way out of it either. I understood my own burnout perfectly for years - and understanding changed nothing.
Years of pressure and holding-it-together train your nervous system into a constant state of high alert, and it stays switched on even when you finally get the chance to rest. Your nervous system doesn’t speak the language of thoughts and ideas - which is why the reading, the apps, the understanding, the talking it through, can never quite reach it. It has to be worked with directly.
The work is a six-step process - The Integration Process, built from everything that actually worked on my own journey back. It works on the subconscious and the nervous system directly.
Step by step, it releases the tension and pressure that’s built up over the years, and it teaches your nervous system that it’s safe to stand down - safe to actually rest. It’s one-to-one, online - and it goes far better with someone beside you who’s walked it.
How it works:
You tell me what’s happening. I’ll help you understand exactly what’s going on underneath your burnout - most people find this alone is worth the call - and you’ll leave with a clear roadmap to heal. That’s true whether or not we ever work together.
Everyone’s burnout is different - how deep it goes, how long it’s been running, what your life allows. So I don’t sell one-size-packages. On the call, if I believe I can help, I’ll recommend the exact way of working that fits your situation. If I don’t believe I can help, I’ll tell you that too, and point you somewhere better.
One-to-one, online, around your schedule. Every session is guided and practical - designed for where you actually are, running on empty - so recovery happens inside your life, not on top of it.
For most of my life I was the capable one, the motivated one. I built a successful business at eighteen, I travelled the world to meet clients, I didn’t need anything from anyone - I was the one everyone leaned on, the one who could carry anything. And I ran on empty in a state of high stress and inner tension for so long that it became my normal. That’s one of the things that made it hard to recover: it took me years to accept there was even a problem.
I couldn’t switch off. Not on holiday, not at dinner, not at two in the morning. Sleep stopped making a difference somewhere along the way. I started losing interest in things I used to enjoy. I was irritable and on edge - running out of patience over small things, usually with the people I loved most. My body felt tired and heavy all the time, and my head was foggy and slow.
I used to wake up sweaty and anxious, full of adrenaline before the day had even started. My body felt like it had forgotten how to relax - my muscles stiff and rigid, even at rest. And if anyone asked? I was fine.
And I did what capable people do: I kept going.
Then it caught up with me - not gradually, in the end, but all at once. Exhaustion that no rest touched. Brain fog so thick I couldn’t read properly. My digestion stopped working. Heart palpitations, dizziness, strange numbness - a list of symptoms that kept growing while every test came back “fine.”
And because I was resourceful and motivated, I tried everything you’re supposed to try. Early nights. A proper sleep routine - no phone in bed, no eating late. The gym. Therapy. Supplements. The apps. Cutting my workload. Taking a holiday. And all that actually happened was that life slowly got smaller - and I didn’t feel any better. None of it failed because I wasn’t doing it right, or not trying hard enough.
The way out took years - talk therapy, acupuncture, all sorts of practitioners, and eventually long-term travel through the mountains of Peru. Along the way I trained in half a dozen different disciplines - talking therapies, body-based work, hypnotherapy, therapeutic massage - to really get to the root of what was going on. Then I took everything that had worked and built The Integration Process so that nobody else has to spend as long as I did guessing in the dark.
These days I sleep well. I have energy I hadn’t felt since my twenties. I’m calm, present, and patient with the people I love - and I still run a business and a family of five. Recovery didn’t require leaving my life. It required working with what was underneath the exhaustion.
And if any of this sounds like you - the running on empty, the holding it together, the tiredness hiding underneath the capability - none of it is a character flaw. You’ve been running on willpower where willpower was never the tool. Nobody showed you another way. That’s all this is.
Once the work starts, the body begins to relax again. The muscle tension eases, sleep starts doing its job, you wake up calmer.
The things that used to trigger you just… don’t, as much. Your patience comes back. You catch yourself smiling again. And life stops feeling like one long act of holding it together.
The first step is a free call. You talk, I listen.
By the end you’ll understand exactly what’s going on underneath your burnout - and you’ll leave with a roadmap: the clearest path forward I can see for you, whether that involves me or not.
If I believe I can help, I’ll say so, and explain exactly how. If I’m not the right person, I’ll tell you that too - and point you toward someone who is.
No pressure, no obligation, nothing to prepare.
That was me too. Understanding is step one, and it’s genuinely valuable - but understanding alone doesn’t refill the tank. This work goes where the exhaustion actually lives, which is deeper than thinking. If you’ve understood yourself for years and nothing’s changed, that’s not a reason this won’t work. It’s the exact reason it will.
That’s precisely who this is designed for. Online, around your life. And the work itself is restful - you’re not adding another demanding project to your plate. Most people leave sessions with more energy than they arrived with.
No - this is practical subconscious and body-based work for stress, exhaustion and recovery. Although I’ve trained in various talking therapies - this is not therapy, and it’s not a substitute for it. This is also not crisis support: if you’re in crisis right now, please contact the Samaritans (UK) 116 123, free, any time. In the US, call or text 988.
No. The call has a job: by the end of it you’ll understand what’s going on underneath your burnout and have a roadmap to heal. If working together makes sense, I’ll say so. If it doesn’t, I’ll say that too. Either way you’ll leave with something useful.
Months, not days - anyone who promises otherwise is selling something. But most people feel the first real shifts quickly: sleep improving, the fuse lengthening, moments of actual rest. Recovery builds from there.
There are no prices on this page because I don’t sell one-size packages - what I’d recommend depends entirely on your situation. The call is free. On it, and only if it’s a fit, I’ll explain clearly what I’d suggest and what it costs. You’ll leave with your roadmap either way.
Only as much as is useful, and only at your pace. This is less about endlessly talking through things and more about finally putting them down.
This is one-to-one work to recover from burnout - properly, from the root cause - inside your life, not instead of it. It starts with a free call: you talk, I listen. The call costs nothing and commits you to nothing.
Even if we never work together, you’ll leave the call understanding exactly what’s going on underneath your burnout - with a clear roadmap to heal.
The only real cost is waiting. You’ve been holding it together for a long time - and burnout doesn’t tend to stand down on its own. It stands down when it’s shown how. That’s what the call is for.
